We are looking to recruit seasonal Stewards to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the kitchen, ensuring all utensils, equipment, and work areas are properly cleaned, sanitized, and available for use. The Kitchen Steward supports the smooth running of food preparation and service by providing clean, well-maintained tools and equipment to the culinary team while adhering to all health, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment thoroughly and efficiently.
  2. Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, including floors, work areas, and storage spaces.
  3. Ensure an adequate supply of clean dishes, glassware, and utensils for service.
  4. Properly dispose of kitchen waste and maintain waste management systems.
  5. Store cleaning chemicals and kitchen equipment safely according to regulations.
  6. Support kitchen staff by organizing and tidying up storage areas.
  7. Ensure compliance with hygiene, health, and safety regulations always

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric
  • Shift work including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Previous experience in a kitchen cleaning or scullery
  • Satisfactory criminal record, subject to assessment of the nature, severity, relevance, and recency of any offence

Key Competencies

  • Operates dishwashing machines
  • Kitchen items are thoroughly cleaned & sanitized.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Collaborates with chefs, kitchen staff, and management.
  • Assists with additional kitchen tasks as needed.

  • Handles cleaning chemicals and equipment safely.
  • Stands for long hours and performs repetitive tasks.
  • Lifts and moves heavy kitchen equipment when necessary

  • Work across all areas of the hotel containing guest public spaces i.e. passages, lifts, rest rooms, lobby, lounges, gym.

Fixed-Term Contract Period:

Please note that this is a fixed-term contract position for the period 01 November 2026 to 30 April 2027, and employment will automatically terminate on the contract end date.
