Your new company
You will work for Broxtowe Borough Council within their Property Services Team. This council has a diverse property portfolio that ranges from operational assets and community facilities to a leisure centre and high street retail premises – including a recently completed 8 screen cinema with a range of independent restaurants. It has been successful in securing grants from the Towns Fund and levelling-up initiatives delivering new properties within the Borough, that will need to be proactively managed post-completion.
Your new role
You will work for Broxtowe Borough Council within their Property Services Team. This council has a diverse property portfolio that ranges from operational assets and community facilities to a leisure centre and high street retail premises – including a recently completed 8 screen cinema with a range of independent restaurants. It has been successful in securing grants from the Towns Fund and levelling-up initiatives delivering new properties within the Borough, that will need to be proactively managed post-completion. Your new role: You will work as the Estates Manager, reporting into the Head of Asset Management & Development. You will manage a team of 5 people: Maintenance Officer, 2 Estates Officers, 1 Maintenance Operative and 1 Energy Officer. You will also be responsible for the procurement and management of external suppliers & contractors.
You will provide an efficient and cost-effective estate management service for all non-housing departments of Broxtowe Borough Council, with a particular emphasis on assisting in the development and implementation of Broxtowe’s economic and community development policies and the preparation/implementation of the Corporate Asset Management Plan.
You will manage a mixed portfolio of circa 120, including commercial ,industrial and retail properties, as well as land, and will also provide technical advice on all estates, town centre, energy and public building maintenance matters. You will also ensure the tenants within their non-housing sector, are receiving the best service, and you will build and maintain those relationships. In addition you will support other departments with real estate expertise and assist in negotiations for acquisition, disposals and lettings. You will be responsible for the coordination of the Asset Valuations for accounting.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have market knowledge across a range of sectors and experience in an Estates/property role, with the ability to manage a diverse property portfolio. You will have experience in developing & implementing asset strategies, as well as identifying and implementing post investment management systems for capital projects. You will have an understanding of how the public sector works, and you will ideally be MRICS qualified or equivalent. You will be happy to liaise with clients, and help drive a team forward.
