The Role We are seeking a Senior Management Accountant to play a key role in ensuring the smooth, effective and timely operation of the finance function across both the Company and the Foundation. You will take ownership of month-end, quarterly reporting and cashflow forecasting, provide clear financial analysis to senior stakeholders, and support the continuous improvement of financial systems and processes. You will also have the opportunity to get involved in other ad hoc project work. You will work closely with the Clerk, Director of Finance, Property & Investments, Finance Manager, Management Accountant, and colleagues across membership & communications, collections & archives, operations and grants, giving you exposure to a broad range of finance areas and organisational activities. The role offers significant opportunities to learn and develop, and to gain rounded experience across commercial, charitable and investment accounting. Responsibilities include: - Lead the month-end and quarterly reporting cycle, ensuring accurate, timely accounts and forecasts. - Oversee core financial operations, including payments, invoicing, financial controls, grant payments and day-to-day use of Sage 200 and Excel. - Support budgeting and forecasting, preparing clear analysis and schedules for committees and senior leadership. - Prepare audit schedules and year-end information, ensuring robust balance sheet controls and statutory compliance.
You’ll be a qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) with strong experience in both management and financial accounting. They will consider candidates coming from practice (first or second movers). You will bring strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and confidence with Excel and accounting systems. Just as importantly, you will enjoy collaborating with colleagues, communicating financial information clearly, and working with stakeholders across multiple teams. A proactive, hands-on approach, and a willingness to dive into the detail when needed, will help someone thrive in this environment. What’s in it for You?
