Your new company

HAYS are delighted to be working exclusively with the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP) on this vacancy.

About NEP
Join one of the UK’s most exciting and pioneering projects – the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP) is developing onshore and offshore infrastructure needed to transport CO2 from carbon capture projects across Teesside and the Humber – collectively known as the East Coast Cluster – to secure storage under the North Sea. The infrastructure is crucial to achieving net zero in the UK’s most carbon intensive industrial regions.
This is a first-of-its-kind, utterly unique and extremely exciting start-up organisation. NEP is in an incorporated joint venture established solely to develop and operate CO₂ transportation and storage infrastructure on behalf of the NEP Shareholders – BP, Equinor and Total Energies.

Your new role

The Commercial Analyst will play a central role in the economic evaluation of major CCS Transport & Storage infrastructure investments. This includes developing robust investment appraisal cash flow models, analysing cost drivers, supporting commercial strategy, and enabling evidence‑based decision‑making for multi‑billion‑pound CCS assets.

The role provides core analytical support to the entire team, ensuring commercial, regulatory, and technical assumptions are integrated into consistent economic frameworks that inform FID decisions, stakeholder reporting and long‑term planning.

This is a rare opportunity to work in small, high impact team at the forefront of the UK’s Net Zero transformation, offering exposure to investment appraisal and commercial modelling of nationally significant infrastructure assets

What You Will Deliver

1.      Economic Modelling & Analysis

Build and maintain complex economic models for CCS Transportation & Storage infrastructure to evaluate investment opportunities and support financial planning

Ensure all investment models follow regulatory requirements on cost allocation, economic valuation, depreciation, and asset categorisation

Evaluate investment and financing options through NPV, IRR and scenario‑based analysis.

Support FID cases through economic risk assessment and strategic sensitivity analysis.

2.      Regulatory Reporting & Compliance Support

Support the preparation, validation, and submission of regulatory reporting required for CCS Transport & Storage activities

Work with Finance, Compliance, and Project Delivery teams to ensure commercial and cost data is accurate, auditable, and aligned with regulatory definitions.

Maintain clear documentation of assumptions, methodologies, and data sources to ensure compliance and readiness for external review.

Contribute commercial analysis and evidence to regulatory consultation responses and compliance submissions.

3.      Performance Reporting & Governance

Produce commercial dashboards, KPI reports, and variance analysis for management reviews.

Produce clear, evidence-based presentations for leadership and governance bodies.

Highlight key value drivers, commercial risks, and opportunities to senior stakeholders.

4.      Commercial Support

Support the Finance & Commercial team in preparing commercial inputs for governance, investment papers, and leadership updates.

Act as a central analytical point of contact for commercial queries across the business.

Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, business, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).

Strong economic modelling and analytical skills

Knowledge of project economics (discounted cash flow, NPV, IRR, sensitivity analysis).

Experience in commercial analysis, corporate finance, or business planning—ideally in energy, infrastructure, or capital‑intensive industries.

Ability to interpret complex data and translate it into clear commercial insights.

Strong attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders.

Experience of project financing or major capital projects.

Experience supporting commercial negotiations or contract development
