As a member of the Finance Team, you will play a key part in delivering the financial strategy of the Council to ensure long term financial sustainability. Being part of the team helping to develop the Council’s strategic financial framework, linking the Wirral Plan, the medium-term financial plan and service plans together to deliver a financially viable model of service delivery for the Council. Your new role As Senior Finance Business Partner (Childrens Services), you will be responsible for providing the management accounting services and financial support to the Children’s Families and Education Directorate (Net Revenue Budget of £86m). You will be embedded within the management teams to proactively contribute to decision making in line with the business plan objectives. Your role will include the development of medium term financial strategy, budget setting and forecast, evaluation of commercial initiatives, and the provision of effective management information. You will lead a small team and be responsible for their development and career planning whilst ensuring a high standard of internal customer service. What you will need to Succeed We are looking for a qualified accountant who has a background in Children’s Social Care and/or Early Help You should have a demonstrable ability to communicate complex financial information to people from a non-finance background. Additionally you should have experience of using financial information to influence decision making. Your personal skills should include a proactive approach and willingness to build effective relationships with customers, other departmental teams and key stakeholders across the organisation. Previous team leadership experience is highly desirable.
