Senior Project Manager 18-month fixed term contract vacancy at University of Wolverhampton

Hays Technology are working in partnership with the University of Wolverhampton to recruit a Senior Technology Project Manager within the Directorate of Continuous Improvement.
The Directorate of Continuous Improvement is focussed on enabling transformation across the University, providing a centre of excellence for business change, continuous process improvement and consistent programme/project delivery.
As a Directorate, this team seeks to provide impactful positive change, that aligns to the University’s strategic objectives and that is embedded into the organisation through strong collaboration with colleagues across the University.
The successful candidate will lead and deliver the ‘Enhancing our approach to student interventions’ project as part of the Programme for Improving Student Outcomes.
Main responsibilities:
- Delivery of complex business change and technology enabled based projects to time, cost, quality and scope.
- Management of direct and matrix-based project teams to ensure high quality delivery according to the business case as approved.
- Resource management and planning to ensure that the project has a constant supply of the necessary skills, headcount and services including for the transitional processes at the end of the project to deliver a sound operational service.
- Influencing direction, support and engagement for the project through a top-quality project communications skillset – whether at executive or support team level.
- External engagement with suppliers, sector bodies and other sources of expertise, visibility for the University, networking relationships, technology current awareness and best practice.
- Application of standard good project management practice, using a wide variety of techniques and processes – including but not limited to the Prince2 project management framework.
- Continuous improvement of project management principles and processes within team and wider University, with a lead responsibility to contribute and support ongoing maturity and capability within project management practice.
In order to apply, you must have the following skills, knowledge and experience:
- Professional qualifications in project management and/or IT or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience as a Senior Project Manager who has delivered Technology & Digital projects in a complex environment.
- Delivery of change management in terms of culture, processes and technology.
- In-depth understanding of the University sector, with direct experience in a large and complex University equivalent to Wolverhampton.
- Detailed knowledge of the technologies underpinning a Digital Campus programme as delivered as the technologies being delivered under this heading in the wider Higher Education sector.
- Marketplace knowledge in terms of technology, services and partners.
- Proven successful engagement with external suppliers on a partnership basis.
- Experience of engaging challenging stakeholders within complex universities.
- Successful resolution of major project-related issues.
- Experience of financial and resource planning and management.
- Exceptional organisational skills and ability to react effectively and quickly to change.
