The Post
We are looking for a well-qualified, experienced and inspiring Visiting Learning Support teacher. The successful candidate will have experience of teaching Mathematics to GCSE level with some Literacy and study skills, and an awareness of current national educational policies and initiatives within Additional Educational Needs.
The teacher is not guaranteed any minimum number of pupils or lessons. The School, through the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO), will liaise with the teacher as necessary to agree times during the week when they will be available to deliver the number of lessons required. The teacher will also be required to be available for departmental meetings and consultations with individual parents, pupils or external agencies.
For this academic year, it is envisaged that there will be a requirement to work four days per week.
The post involves teaching and working with individuals, groups, and classes of children throughout the School. Alongside this work, screening and observing pupils, devising programmes of work and supporting staff with strategies for the classroom and wider School setting is required.
Applicants should have excellent pastoral skills along with innovative teaching strategies to help pupils make good progress and achieve their best, be flexible and a good team player. Applicants should have the ability to identify individual needs and be able to put in place differentiated learning material for a range of abilities and needs.
