Are you an experienced Support Worker looking for bank work where you can make a genuine difference to the people you support?

Transforming Support South London is looking for an experienced Bank Support Worker to join the team at Temple Road in Croydon, supporting adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.

This is a person centred role focused on helping each individual make choices, build confidence and maintain as much independence and control over their own life as possible.

Transforming Support provides person centred supported living and outreach services for adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs across the UK.

The Role

As a Bank Support Worker, you will provide safe, consistent and respectful support tailored to each individual and their needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting individuals with everyday living and maintaining their independence
  • Helping people make choices about their routines, activities and lifestyle
  • Supporting access to the local community, appointments and social activities
  • Providing support with health needs and medication in line with agreed procedures
  • Helping individuals manage their tenancy, finances and household responsibilities where required
  • Building positive relationships with the people you support, their families and other professionals
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive risk taking
  • Maintaining accurate support records and completing required documentation
  • Following safeguarding, health and safety and risk management procedures
  • Working closely with colleagues to provide consistent, high quality support

You will help ensure that each person is treated with dignity and respect while being supported to make their own choices and take an active part in their community.

About You

You will need at least 6 months' previous care or support experience and a genuine commitment to person centred support.

You will be reliable, respectful and confident supporting adults with a range of individual and complex needs.

You will ideally bring:

  • At least 6 months' previous care or support experience
  • A genuine commitment to promoting independence, dignity and choice
  • A reliable and responsible approach to work
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Confidence supporting people with learning disabilities or complex needs
  • The ability to maintain accurate records and follow agreed support plans
  • A calm, respectful and person centred approach
  • Good awareness of safeguarding, confidentiality and health and safety
  • The flexibility required for bank work
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Previous experience within supported living would be particularly useful.
