The Role

We are seeking a committed and customer-focused Estates Operative to join our Facilities and Estates team. This is an important role that helps ensure our College environment remains safe, secure, welcoming and well maintained for students, staff and visitors.

As an Estates Operative, you will support the day-to-day operation of our campus, carrying out a wide range of duties across College buildings and grounds. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards throughout the estate, responding to operational requirements and helping to ensure facilities are fit for purpose and presented to the highest standard.

The service operates between 7.30am and 9.30pm and includes occasional weekend working. Your normal working hours will be seven hours per day, plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

Post 1: Your normal working hours will be scheduled between 9.30am and 7.00pm, Monday to Friday. To meet operational requirements, your working pattern may be adjusted within the service operating hours following consultation with Estates Management. Reasonable notice will be provided of any changes.

Post 2: Your normal working hours will be scheduled between 1.30pm and 9.00pm, Monday to Thursday, and 9.30am to 5.00pm on Fridays. To meet operational requirements, your working pattern may be adjusted within the service operating hours following consultation with Estates Management. Reasonable notice will be provided of any changes.

What Are We Looking For?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable individual who takes pride in delivering a high-quality service and enjoys working as part of a team. You will have knowledge of basic maintenance and repair work, with the ability to identify issues requiring attention both inside and outside of buildings. A good understanding of health, safety and welfare regulations, including fire safety requirements, is essential.

The successful candidate will possess excellent customer service skills and a flexible approach to work, recognising that priorities can change in a busy operational environment. You will be comfortable working collaboratively with colleagues whilst also taking responsibility for your own duties and contributing to the smooth running of the College estate.

A willingness to undertake First Aid responsibilities is required, with full training provided. Above all, you will be committed to creating a safe, welcoming and well-maintained environment that supports the College community and enhances the experience of everyone who uses our facilities.
