We are working with an inclusive secondary school in Wolverhampton who are looking for an enthusiastic Graduate SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate who is considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, therapy, counselling or SEND, and wants to gain meaningful experience before taking their next step.

About the Role

You'll work as part of the school's wider SEND team, providing personalised support to students with a range of additional needs.

You'll help students access their learning, develop independence and build confidence, while working closely with experienced teachers and SEND professionals.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group supportto students with SEND
  • Helping students access lessons and engage with the curriculum
  • Supporting pupils to work towards their individual targets
  • Reinforcing learning and providing additional guidance where needed
  • Helping students develop their confidence, independence and communication skills
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with young people
  • Supporting students' academic, social and emotional development
  • Working closely with teachers, the SENDCO and pastoral team
  • Adapting your approach to suit individual students and their needs
  • Sharing relevant observations and feedback around student progress

Students may have a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language Needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Who are we looking for?

We're keen to hear from graduates who have:

  • A 2:1 degree or above, ideally in Psychology, Education, Childhood Studies or a related subject
  • A genuine interest in working with young people with SEND
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy and resilience
  • The ability to establish positive and professional relationships
  • A flexible and adaptable approach
  • A genuine commitment to helping students succeed

We're particularly interested in graduates looking to build a career in education, educational psychology, counselling, therapy or specialist SEND support.

Previous school experience isn't essential.

Experience working with children or young people through tutoring, mentoring, volunteering, coaching or similar roles would be beneficial, but we're looking for graduates who can demonstrate the right attitude, enthusiasm and commitment to supporting students.
