Are you a motivated graduate who wants to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people?

Do you have the patience, resilience and interpersonal skills to support students who may face challenges with behaviour, confidence, attendance or engagement?

We are working with a supportive and ambitious secondary school in Coventry who are looking for a dedicated Graduate Pastoral & Behaviour Mentor to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking to gain meaningful experience in education before progressing into teaching, pastoral care, youth work, psychology or SEND.

The Role

As a Graduate Pastoral & Behaviour Mentor, you will provide targeted support to students who need additional guidance to engage positively with school and their learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building strong, positive relationships with students
  • Delivering 1:1 and small-group mentoring sessions
  • Supporting students with behaviour, attendance and engagement
  • Helping young people develop confidence, resilience and positive attitudes
  • Encouraging students to take responsibility for their choices and behaviour
  • Working closely with teachers and the pastoral team to identify students' needs
  • Supporting students who may have additional needs or challenging circumstances
  • Promoting a calm, positive and inclusive school environment
  • Providing a consistent and positive presence for students throughout the school day

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will be:

  • A graduatewith a minimum 2:1 degree
  • Passionate about supporting children and young people
  • A confident and effective communicator
  • Patient, resilient and emotionally intelligent
  • Comfortable working with students who may display challenging behaviour
  • Able to build positive relationships and establish appropriate boundaries
  • Proactive, reliable and enthusiastic
  • Interested in developing a career within education, pastoral support or a related field

Previous experience working with young people is desirable but not essential. The school is looking for someone with the right attitude, personality and commitment to helping students overcome barriers to success.

Why Apply?

This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on experience within a secondary school, while developing practical skills in mentoring, behaviour management and pastoral support.

It would be an ideal stepping stone for graduates considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, counselling, youth work, SEND or pastoral leadership.

If you're a graduate who is passionate about helping young people build confidence, overcome challenges and achieve their potential, we'd love to hear from you.
