A high-performing, Outstanding secondary school in the London Borough of Wandsworth is seeking an exceptional Behaviour Mentor to join its successful pastoral and academic support team. The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students who require additional behavioural, pastoral, and academic intervention. You will work closely with pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop the confidence, resilience, and self-discipline needed to succeed.

The role is highly rewarding and requires a graduate who can build positive relationships whilst maintaining high expectations and clear boundaries.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small-group behavioural support.
  • Managing behaviour effectively and de-escalating challenging situations.
  • Supporting students who may be at risk of disengagement from education.
  • Working alongside Heads of Year, teachers, SEND staff, and senior leaders to implement intervention programmes.
  • Monitoring attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and academic progress.
  • Acting as a positive role model and mentor for students.
  • Supporting students' social, emotional, and personal development.
  • Delivering targeted academic interventions to improve attainment in Mathematics, English, and Science.
  • Encouraging high levels of aspiration, engagement, and achievement.
  • Contributing to the school's culture of excellence and high expectations.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will possess outstanding academic credentials alongside the confidence and resilience required to work in a demanding yet highly rewarding school environment.

Essential Requirements

  • A degree from a Russell Group University.
  • Excellent GCSE results and strong A-Level grades.
  • A proven record of academic achievement.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to establish positive relationships with young people.
  • The confidence to support learning across Mathematics, English, and Science.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A professional, resilient, and proactive approach.
  • A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people.

Highly Desirable

  • A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related subject.
  • Previous experience in mentoring, tutoring, coaching, youth work, or educational settings.
  • An interest in teacher training, educational psychology, pastoral leadership, counselling, or child development.
  • Experience supporting students with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs.
