HGV Class 1 Driver – Carlisle, Cumbria

People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Carlisle, Cumbria. 

This is a fantastic opportunity offering up to £17.00  per hour, Monday to Friday working, ongoing assignments, weekly pay, overtime opportunities, immediate starts, paid induction, and genuine long-term opportunities with a leading logistics business.

This role would suit candidates with experience as an HGV Class 1 Driver, LGV Class 1 Driver, CE Driver, Category C+E Driver, Class 1 Driver, Articulated Lorry Driver, Trunk Driver. 

Shifts

 • Monday to Friday
 • AM starts between 04:00 – 06:00

Rates of Pay: £20.00 per hour (Days)

Day-to-Day Duties

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, your duties will include:

 • Completing trunking depot-to-depot deliveries with occasional store deliveries
 • Operating Category C+E vehicles safely and efficiently
 • Carrying out pre- and post-journey vehicle inspections
 • Ensuring all loads are secure and compliant with transport regulations
 • Adhering to all road traffic legislation and company procedures
 • Communicating effectively with the transport office and customers
 • Reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance requirements promptly
 • Assisting with loading and unloading when required

Essential Skills

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will need:

 • A valid UK Category C+E (Class 1) Driving Licence
 • A minimum of six months' Category C+E driving experience
 • A valid Driver CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card
 • No more than six penalty points for minor offences
 • No DR10, DG10, IN10, or TT99 endorsement codes
 • Good spoken and written English
 • Excellent punctuality and timekeeping
 • A good understanding of UK road traffic legislation
 • Strong communication skills

Desirable Experience

 • Previous experience driving commercial Category C+E vehicles
 • Previous trunking experience would be advantageous
 • Previous RDC or store delivery experience would be beneficial

Training Provided

 • Driver assessment required prior to starting
 • One-day paid induction following a successful assessment
 • Industry-related training and ongoing support throughout your assignment
