Job Title: Mechanical Fitter

Hours: Full Time, Day Shift – 40 hours per week

Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled and reliable Mechanical Fitter to join our maintenance team in Sheffield. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing a wide range of industrial plant and machinery, ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently while minimising downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on plant and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on conveyors, balers, crushers, pumps, gearboxes, motors, and associated machinery.
• Install, assemble, and commission new mechanical equipment.
• Replace bearings, shafts, chains, belts, seals, and other mechanical components.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report any recurring faults.
• Work closely with production staff to improve equipment reliability and performance.
• Keep the workshop and work areas clean, organised, and safe.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter, or in a similar role.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience maintaining heavy industrial plant is desirable.
• Good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible approach to work and a positive attitude.

Experience

• Mechanical Fitting: 2 years (preferred)
• Industrial Maintenance: 2 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification

• Full UK Driving Licence (preferred)
