Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist looking to make a meaningful impact in a therapeutic education setting?

A specialist SEN primary provision in East London is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to support pupils with SEMH, trauma and complex needs. This role focuses on delivering targeted therapeutic interventions to help pupils engage in learning and progress towards increased independence.

You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, supporting children with EHCPs through specialist assessment, intervention and environmental adaptation, helping them access education in a safe and nurturing setting.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver occupational therapy assessments and interventions
  • Support pupils with sensory, motor and functional needs
  • Develop and implement individualised intervention plans
  • Create sensory strategies and programmes to reduce anxiety
  • Work closely with teachers, TEPs and clinical teams
  • Provide training and guidance to school staff
  • Monitor progress and evaluate intervention outcomes
  • Liaise with families, external agencies and professionals
  • Contribute to risk assessments and safeguarding procedures

The school follows a therapeutic education model, focusing on relationships, emotional development and holistic support, helping pupils re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification
  • Is HCPC registered and a member of RCOT (or equivalent)
  • Has experience working with children with SEMH and/or ASC
  • Has strong understanding of sensory integration and trauma-informed practice
  • Can work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Has excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Is resilient, adaptable and committed to supporting vulnerable pupils

Experience working with high-risk and complex cases is highly desirable.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking SEN setting with a strong therapeutic ethos and opportunities to shape and develop clinical practice.
