Have you recently graduated and want a role where you can directly support children who need extra guidance to succeed in the classroom?

Are you looking for a position that gives you real responsibility, allowing you to build experience supporting pupils with additional needs before progressing into a long-term career in education or child development?

A forward-thinking primary school in Bolton, known for its strong focus on pupil wellbeing and tailored support, is looking to recruit a Graduate SEN TeachingAssistant to join their team as soon as possible for the remainder of the academic year.

Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Full-time, Monday–Friday role (term-time only)
  • Immediate start available
  • Weekly salary between £500 – £560
  • Based in a supportive and well-established primary school
  • Work alongside a knowledgeable and approachable SENDCo
  • Develop practical skills supporting a wide range of SEN needs
  • Interviews taking place now

As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with pupils who require additional academic and emotional support throughout the school day. Your role will involve adapting tasks to suit different learning styles—for example, simplifying instructions, using visual prompts, or providing step-by-step guidance to help pupils stay on track.

In your role as a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will also support children who may struggle with behaviour or emotional regulation. This might include helping a pupil refocus during lessons, offering reassurance in challenging moments, or implementing strategies that reduce anxiety and build confidence over time.

A key part of the Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant position is building strong, trusting relationships with pupils. By creating a consistent and supportive presence, you’ll help children feel more secure in the classroom, which in turn improves both their engagement and progress.

You’ll also deliver small group sessions as a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, focusing on key skills such as reading, writing, numeracy, or social interaction. These sessions are often more personalised, giving you the chance to see real progress and make a measurable impact.

Working alongside teachers and the SENDCo, the Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant will contribute to tailored support strategies, monitor development, and gain exposure to EHCP planning and intervention techniques. This is invaluable experience for anyone considering teaching, educational psychology, or therapy-based careers.

The school itself has a strong emphasis on pastoral care and invests heavily in its support staff, ensuring every Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant receives the tools, feedback, and encouragement needed to develop professionally.

If you’re a graduate with a 2:1 or above, strong communication skills, and a genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs, this could be the perfect next step.

Apply now to begin your journey as a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant and gain the experience that will set you apart in your future career.
