Our Client, the South African Sugar Association (SASA) has an opportunity available for a Risk Management Advisor in their Finance and Administration division based in Mount Edgecombe, KwaZulu-Natal

The South African Sugar Association (SASA) provides a range of specialist services that enhance the profitability, global competitiveness, and sustainability of the South African sugar industry.  The Finance and Administration Division provides a range of financial services to SASA. The Risk Management Advisor will assist with the implementation and maintenance of a risk management strategy and policy for the department, SASA and its subsidiaries. 

The Risk Management Advisor will report directly to the Head of the Finance Manager, a senior Manager within the Finance team and the key deliverables are as follows:

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supports, advises and assists Line management across SASA to embed risk management.
• Contribute to and if necessary, challenge the alignment of the business level strategy and plan to the SASA strategy and agreed risk strategy and Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
• Advise management on developing processes and controls to manage risks.
• Monitor the adequacy and effectiveness of the risk management system and internal control environment.
• Ensure that any breach of risk limit, incidents or losses are timeously identified and escalated.
• Support management to complete annual and quarterly risk processes.
• Provide expert, proactive advice and guidance on relevant legislative amendments, industry best practices and solutions to relevant stakeholders.
• Participate and contribute to a development culture.
• Perform the role of the Secretary of the Executive Risk Committee.
• Advise on risks at relevant SASA Committees, Council and Boards of the subsidiary companies.
• Positively influence the divisions risk culture.

Insurance Portfolio

• Manage the insurance portfolio, claims and all insurable risks by ensuring that the SASA insurance portfolio is reviewed annually thereby meeting the objective of adequately covering SASA's assets and insurable.

B-BBEE Rating

• Project manage the annual B-BBEE rating to ensure that SASA undergoes an annual rating that is acceptable to the industry and compliant with the relevant B-BBEE codes.

Internal Financial Controls

• Perform the role of Liaison and ensure that internal audits of financial controls by the outsourced service provider.
• Management the compilation and periodic review of internal financial controls.

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience:

• A minimum three-year tertiary qualification in Accounting /Internal Auditing/Risk Management
• Preferable 4 - 5 years' relevant internal audit / risk management experience
• Stakeholder management experience at a middle and senior management level is mandatory.
• Experience in completing a risk deep dive and ability to assess internal control environment is advantageous
