Make a Real Difference in Young People's Lives

Are you a graduate looking for a rewarding opportunity where you can make a genuine difference to young people facing challenges in education?

We are recruiting a resilient, committed and adaptable Behaviour Mentor to provide dedicated one-to-one support to children and young people who may have experienced school exclusions, behavioural difficulties, additional needs or prolonged periods out of education.

Working closely with schools, you will help pupils rebuild their confidence, develop positive behaviours and re-engage with learning. This is a hands-on, pastoral-focused role that requires patience, consistency and the ability to build trusting relationships with young people who may struggle within a traditional classroom environment.

You will support pupils both in educational settings and within the community, including accompanying them on planned outings and activities to develop their social skills, independence and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored one-to-one mentoring to children and young people facing barriers to education.

  • Build positive relationships and encourage trust, confidence and engagement.

  • Support pupils with behavioural, emotional and social challenges.

  • Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation and the development of essential life skills.

  • Work alongside school staff and other professionals to support each pupil's individual progress.

  • Adapt your approach to meet changing needs and respond calmly to challenging situations.

  • Encourage pupils to re-engage with learning and work towards positive educational outcomes.

What We're Looking For

  • A graduate from any discipline; Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Education or similar subjects would be advantageous.

  • A resilient and patient individual who can remain calm and professional under pressure.

  • Someone adaptable who can respond confidently to different behaviours and situations.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • A proactive, reliable and compassionate approach to supporting young people.

  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential, as travel and accompanying pupils on outings are part of the role.

Previous experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable individuals would be beneficial. However, graduates with transferable skills and the right attitude are encouraged to apply.

Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable practical experience in education, behaviour mentoring and pastoral support. You will play an important role in helping young people overcome barriers, develop their potential and work towards a more positive future.
