Our client is a modern and forward-thinking accountancy practice based in Ilkeston, committed to delivering exceptional client service, embracing technology and investing in the development of its people.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint up to two Junior Accountants to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accounting professional who is looking to develop their career within practice and gain broad exposure across accounts, tax and client work.

The Role

As a Junior Accountant, you will work closely with experienced members of the team, supporting a varied portfolio of clients while developing your technical knowledge and practical accounting experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of limited company, sole trader and partnership accounts
  • Preparation of VAT returns
  • Preparation of Corporation Tax and Personal Tax returns
  • Supporting senior members of the team with client assignments
  • Communicating directly with clients in a professional manner
  • Working with modern cloud accounting software
  • Maintaining accurate and high-quality financial records
  • Continuing to develop technical accounting and tax knowledge
  • Supporting the wider team and contributing to a positive working environment

The Ideal Candidate

Our client is looking for someone who is enthusiastic about developing a career in accountancy and is keen to broaden their practical experience.

You will ideally have:

  • AAT qualification or be studying towards AAT, or have equivalent accounting experience
  • Previous experience within a UK accountancy practice is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • A willingness to learn and develop
  • Good organisational and time-management skills
  • A genuine ambition to progress within the profession
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
