Ambitions Personnel are currently recruiting for two experienced CNC Machinists to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business based in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced CNC Setters/Operators who are confident working with CNC turning centres and vertical machining centres and are looking for a long-term career within a skilled engineering environment.

The successful candidates will be responsible for setting and operating CNC machinery safely and efficiently, ensuring production and quality targets are consistently achieved.

βš™οΈ The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting and operating CNC turning centres and vertical machining centres.
  • Working with Mazak and Haas CNC programming systems.
  • Programming Mazak turning centres and 4-axis machine tools.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and working accurately to specifications.
  • Carrying out quality inspections on completed components.
  • Ensuring production and quality targets are consistently achieved.
  • Identifying and troubleshooting production issues.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Working safely and following company procedures.
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy and organised working area.
  • Supporting other areas of the business when required.
  • Working with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards.

πŸ‘¨‍πŸ”§ What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience setting and operating CNC machinery.
  • Strong engineering and machining skills.
  • Experience with CNC turning centres and/or vertical machining centres.
  • Experience with Mazak systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Haas systems would be advantageous.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to inspect your own work.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A positive, self-motivated and "can-do" attitude.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.

Training will be provided where required, and there may be opportunities to work across other areas of the business to support operational requirements.

πŸ• Shift Pattern

Morning: 6:00am – 2:00pm
Afternoon: 2:00pm – 10:00pm
Night: 10:00pm – 6:00am

The business operates a three-shift pattern, with night shifts required depending on production requirements.

πŸ’° Pay

Basic rate: £14.50 per hour

With the 25% shift premium, this increases to:

For exceptional candidates, a higher basic rate of £14.90 per hour may be available.

With the shift premium, this equates to:
