TeacherActive is proud to be working with a primary SEMH school in Selly Oak that supports pupils with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs. The school provides a supportive environment where a trauma-informed approach and an understanding of each pupil's individual needs are central to their education and wellbeing.

The school is looking to take on a Level 2 Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis, leading to a permanent position for the right Level 2 Teaching Assistant. The successful Level 2 Teaching Assistant will support primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs, including ASC and communication and interaction difficulties, working consistently within bespoke behaviour, support and risk management plans.

The successful Level 2 Teaching Assistant will have:

• A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant equivalent

• Experience successfully supporting primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs and behaviours that challenge

• Experience supporting pupils with ASC and communication and interaction difficulties

• A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, adverse childhood experiences and attachment theory

• Good curriculum knowledge and an understanding of how sensory, social and emotional needs can impact engagement and behaviour

• A calm, resilient and confident approach to supporting pupils
