Looking to move your warehouse experience into Health & Safety?

We’re recruiting for an EHS Assistant to join a well-established manufacturing business in Worksop.

This could be a great opportunity for someone who has worked in a warehouse, logistics, manufacturing or operational environment, has some experience with administration and paperwork, and has an interest in Health & Safety and making sure people work safely.

You don’t need to be an experienced Health & Safety professional. What matters is that you understand how a busy operational environment works, are confident speaking to people, are organised and have a genuine interest in developing your career in Health, Safety and Environmental (EHS).

You’ll work closely with the experienced EHS Manager, learning the role as you go and gaining exposure to all areas of site safety and environmental compliance.

What will you be doing?

This is a hands-on role, with around 60% of your time spent out in the warehouse and operational areas and 40% completing admin and office-based work.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Spending time in the warehouse and operational areas, checking that safe working practices are being followed.
  • Carrying out regular safety observations and inspections.
  • Speaking with employees, contractors and agency workers about Health & Safety.
  • Helping with toolbox talks, inductions and safety briefings.
  • Completing EHS paperwork, records and reports.
  • Updating spreadsheets and internal systems with Health & Safety information.
  • Helping with accident, incident and near-miss investigations.
  • Supporting risk assessments, COSHH assessments and safe working procedures.
  • Following up actions and making sure issues identified are dealt with.
  • Helping coordinate Health & Safety training and inductions.
  • Supporting contractor management and permit-to-work processes.
  • Assisting with fire safety, first aid and emergency arrangements.
  • Supporting environmental inspections and audits.
  • Attending Health & Safety meetings and helping improve site processes.

What are we looking for?

This role would suit someone who is practical, organised and people-focused, rather than someone who wants a purely office-based position.

You might currently be working as a:

  • Warehouse Administrator
  • Warehouse Coordinator
  • Logistics Administrator
  • Stock Controller
  • Warehouse Team Leader
  • Operations Administrator
  • Manufacturing Administrator
  • Production Administrator
  • HSE/SHEQ Administrator
  • Health & Safety Assistant

Or you may have another operational role where you have naturally taken an interest in Health & Safety, procedures, compliance or making sure things are done correctly.

You don't need to tick every box. We're particularly interested in someone who has:

  • Experience working in a warehouse, manufacturing, engineering, logistics, construction or similar environment.
  • Some previous administration or coordination experience.
  • Good attention to detail and confidence completing paperwork and maintaining records.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Confidence speaking to people at all levels.
  • A practical, approachable and proactive attitude.
  • An interest in developing a career in Health & Safety / EHS.

A Health & Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH would be advantageous, but is not essential. If you're interested in pursuing NEBOSH, this could be an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience alongside your qualification.

Why this role?

This isn't just an admin position — you'll be out on site, getting involved and learning from an experienced EHS Manager.

You'll gain experience across:

Health & Safety | Environmental | Risk Assessments | COSHH | Audits | Investigations | Training | Contractor Management | Compliance

The company is happy to support the right person with training and further professional qualifications, making this a great stepping stone for someone looking to build a long-term career in EHS.

What's on offer?

  • £28,000–£30,000, depending on experience
  • 36-hour working week
  • Monday–Thursday 8am–4pm
  • Early finish every Friday at 2pm
  • 25 days' holiday + bank holidays
  • Option to purchase up to 5 additional days
  • Christmas site closure
  • Enhanced pension contributions of up to 8%
  • Healthcare cash plan
  • Life assurance at 3x annual salary
  • Dental, optical and critical illness benefits
  • Training and professional development
  • Support towards further qualifications
  • Opportunity to learn directly from an experienced EHS Manager

Interested?

If you're currently working in a warehouse, logistics or operational environment, enjoy the administrative side of your role and have been thinking about moving into Health & Safety, we'd love to hear from you.
