The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established independent veterinary practice in Newcastle upon Tyne.

This long-standing practice is proud of its supportive, collaborative culture, with many team members having remained with the business for years. Clinical standards are high, teamwork is valued and Veterinary Surgeons are trusted to work with clinical freedom while being supported by experienced colleagues whenever needed.

The successful candidate will enjoy a genuinely varied mixed caseload, consisting of approximately 80% Small Animal, 15% Equine and 5% Farm Animal, including consultations, surgery and ambulatory work.

Working alongside an experienced nursing team, the practice operates a 10-minute consultation model, allowing Veterinary Surgeons to focus on delivering exceptional patient care while maintaining strong relationships with loyal clients.

As part of a network of eight independent practices across the North East, this role also offers the benefits of a wider support network while retaining the close-knit feel of an independent practice.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will have:

  • MRCVS registration
  • A minimum of 7 years' postgraduate veterinary experience
  • Previous experience within mixed practice
  • Confidence in consulting, surgery and ambulatory work
  • Excellent communication and client care skills
  • A positive, team-focused approach
  • A full UK driving licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicle

The Rota

The rota includes:

  • Full-time or part-time considered
  • Minimum three days per week
  • One Saturday morning in three
  • Shared Bank Holiday cover
  • Small contribution to a 1-in-6 weekend on-call rota
  • A long weekend after every on-call weekend, with either the Friday before or Monday after off
  • Weekend on-call is always shared between three Veterinary Surgeons, ensuring support is always available
