We are recruiting two experienced Senior Quantity Surveyors (Pre-Contract) to join a busy commercial team supporting major infrastructure programmes within the UK nuclear defence sector.

This role focuses primarily on pre-contract commercial management, leading procurement and tendering activities on complex engineering and infrastructure projects.

The Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will lead commercial activities throughout the pre-contract lifecycle, ensuring robust procurement strategies, cost certainty and commercial governance are established before project delivery.

You'll work closely with engineering, estimating, planning and procurement teams to deliver commercially successful tender submissions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost plans, estimates and benchmarking exercises.
  • Develop procurement and commercial strategies.
  • Produce tender documentation and manage tender processes.
  • Carry out tender evaluations and commercial negotiations.
  • Prepare and review NEC3/NEC4 contract documentation.
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Support supply-chain engagement and subcontractor selection.
  • Produce commercial reports and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with company governance and contractual obligations.

Skills & Experience

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Strong pre-contract Quantity Surveying experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.
  • Experience managing procurement and competitive tendering.
  • Strong commercial negotiation skills.
  • Ability to prepare detailed cost estimates and commercial reports.
  • Experience within infrastructure, engineering, defence, utilities or nuclear sectors.
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
  • RICS or CICES membership (or working towards) desirable.
