Job Title: CNC Sliding Head - Setter/Operator

Location: Bilston

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Hours: Double Day Shifts:

Monday-Thursday: 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm

Friday: 6am-11am / 11am-4pm

Salary: Up to £17.00 per hour ( £20 per hour including shift allowance)

Position Summary

We are seeking experienced CNC Turners - Setter/Operators to join a precision engineering team. This hands-on role involves setting and operating CNC lathes, adjusting offsets, and ensuring components meet strict quality standards. The position is ideal for candidates with experience in both Star Sliding Head and Mazak machines, working within industries such as defence and aviation.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC turning machines, primarily Star Sliding Head lathes with Fanuc controls.

• Adjust offsets, insert and change tooling, and make modifications to programs as required.

• Use driven tools and inspection equipment to ensure precision and quality of components.

• Produce components to specification for high-precision industries including defence and aviation.

• Maintain clean, organised work areas and follow all company health and safety procedures.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues to support production targets and continuous improvement.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience setting and operating CNC turning machines.

• Familiarity with Fanuc controls; ability to make basic program modifications.

• Skilled in offset adjustments, tool changes, and use of inspection equipment.

• Experience producing components for high-precision industries preferred.

• Strong attention to detail, quality, and consistency.

• Reliable and proactive team player.

Hours & Shift Pattern

• Preferably willing to work Double Day Shifts:

o Monday-Thursday: 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm

o Friday: 6am-11am / 11am-4pm

Remuneration & Benefits

• Hourly rate: £17 per hour, depending on experience and skill level.

• Shift allowance: Additional 15% for applicable shifts.

• Overtime available:

o First 5 hours at x1.5

o Next 3 hours at x1.75

o Additional overtime at x2
