Overview A long-established technical solutions provider, operating across the UK and Ireland since the 1970s, is seeking a Business Development Executive to join its expanding sales function. The organisation supports clients in both public and private sectors, supplying specialist monitoring equipment used to safeguard employee health and track environmental conditions. Customers range from SMEs through to major global brands, with applications spanning construction, offshore industries, motorsport, heritage sites, and more. This office-based position focuses on promoting a diverse portfolio of technical monitoring instruments, including gas detection, air quality solutions and fit-testing equipment. Working as part of a collaborative sales team, the successful candidate will play a central role in driving growth-generating new opportunities, qualifying and nurturing leads, and managing all inbound sales enquiries with professionalism. The role offers a blend of strategic business development and hands-on sales activity. The successful applicant will enjoy a fast-paced, friendly working environment and will have opportunities to represent the business at industry events, exhibitions, and conferences throughout the year. Full product training will be provided and expanded over time with ongoing support from the wider team.
Key Responsibilities Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Business Development Executive will:
Achieve profitable sales growth across assigned product categories Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within designated customer accounts Develop tailored sales pitches and propositions for specific industry sectors Identify and pursue new business opportunities with organisations not currently engaged Manage and track the customer pipeline to support accurate marketing and performance reporting Work closely with the marketing team to align activity with sales objectives Provide regular updates and insight to senior leadership where required Attend team meetings to share progress, discuss challenges, and highlight best practice Collaborate effectively with internal departments to ensure excellent customer experience Support and train team members where necessary Complete administrative tasks promptly and accurately Undertake additional duties as required Represent the business at UK and Ireland exhibitions and trade events
Person Specification The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
Proven experience in business development, sales, or a related field Confidence using CRM systems and sales software Previous experience working with technical products (desirable) A proactive and results-driven mentality Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent organisational and prioritisation abilities Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously Effective negotiation and influencing skills Confident telephone sales skills Ability to work under pressure and adapt to the needs of the business Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across departments and with prospects An active interest in self-learning and staying informed about industry developments High attention to detail Ability to multitask effectively A collaborative approach, with a positive contribution to team and industry professionalism A strong ethical approach to sales, ensuring solutions suit customer needs Competence with Microsoft Office tools (experience with SAP or similar systems is beneficial but not essential)
