TeacherActive is proud to be working with a supportive specialist school in Westbury, providing education for pupils aged 11 to 18 who have experienced challenges in previous educational settings. With small class sizes and a nurturing, structured environment, the school focuses on helping pupils rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning and recognise their individual strengths and potential.

The school is looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant from September on a full-time, temporary, long-term basis. The successful Learning Support Assistant will support pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans / EHCPs, primarily working with young people with ASD and SEMH needs to promote positive engagement, manage barriers to learning and make progress towards individual goals.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will have:

• Experience supporting young people aged 11 to 18 with additional needs
• Experience working with Autism Spectrum Disorder / ASD and/or Social, Emotional and Mental Health / SEMH needs
• An understanding of Education, Health and Care Plans / EHCPs
• The ability to build positive and professional relationships with young people
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A patient, resilient and adaptable approach to supporting learning
