Electrical Maintenance Engineer 

Location: Cumbria
Salary: Starting from £45,000
Shift Pattern: Rotating Days & Nights
Working Pattern: 13 shifts per month + 10 consecutive days off
Overtime: Paid at time and a half

We're looking for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established paper manufacturing site in Cumbria.

This is a genuine hands-on engineering role working on a mixture of existing plant, upgraded machinery and modern control systems. The site has a strong engineering culture and puts real emphasis on reliability, preventative maintenance and improving equipment performance.

And the big benefit?

You'll work just 13 shifts per month, giving you around 10 consecutive days off every month.

You'll also have regular opportunities to work overtime at 1.5x, giving you the potential to significantly increase your earnings.

What will you be doing?

• Electrical fault finding and maintenance across a busy production site
• Working on motors, drives, control panels and control circuits
• Fault finding on PLC-controlled machinery
• Planned and reactive maintenance
• PPM and preventative maintenance
• Supporting reliability and continuous improvement projects
• Root cause analysis and eliminating recurring faults
• Working alongside mechanical engineers and production teams
• Supporting plant modifications and improvement projects
• Maintaining high safety standards across a heavy industrial environment

The Engineering Environment

You'll work on a wide range of industrial equipment including:

• Paper manufacturing and converting machinery
• Motors, pumps, gearboxes and conveyors
• Variable speed drives
• PLC systems
• Industrial control panels
• Instrumentation
• Steam, compressed air and water systems

This is an environment where good engineers are trusted to diagnose problems, find solutions and improve the plant rather than simply replacing equipment.

What are we looking for?

You'll ideally be:

• Time-served Electrician / Electrical Maintenance Engineer
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
• 18th Edition qualified
• Experienced within manufacturing, heavy industry or continuous process environments
• Strong at electrical fault finding
• Experienced with motors, drives, control circuits and electrical panels
• Able to read electrical drawings
• Comfortable working rotating days and nights

PLC, instrumentation, Test & Inspection, RCA or paper manufacturing experience would be advantageous but isn't essential.
