An independent, dynamic, and entrepreneurial group providing bespoke fiduciary and family office services to worldwide is looking to hire a compliance officer to work under the supervision and guidance of the BVI Managing Director and the Head of Compliance. The Compliance Officer will report to the BVI managing director while also receiving instruction and guidance from the head of compliance.
Key Responsibilities will include maintaining and updating the compliance manual on an annual basis. Maintain and update policies and procedures to ensure compliance with any regulatory amendments in the British Virgin Islands including all relevant regulatory logs. Prepare and submit all relevant statutory and statistical returns to the BVI Financial Services Commission (e.g. annual compliance officer report, annual statistical prudential returns, etc.). Perform periodic reviews of customers due diligence such as annual high-risk reviews and conducting risk analysis. Approve new business and conduct compliance reviews of new business including FATCA and CRS classifications. Attend monthly compliance committee meetings. Prepare compliance reports for the Board and attend quarterly Board meetings. Preparation and delivery of annual AMLTFPF training. Ensure timely regulatory filings including Economic Substance, Annual Returns, Beneficial Owner Register and the Register of Members etc. Act as MLRO and prepare reports of suspicious business activities or transactions to the relevant authorities.
The successful applicant will have a legal or accounting professional qualification with a minimum of 5 years experience in the legal or compliance field (a recognised compliance qualification, such as ICA or ACAMS is preferred). Strong working knowledge of corporate law, the AML and regulatory framework, CRS and FATCA legislation, GDPR, and other relevant legislation for the BVI. Solid experience in dealing with regulatory bodies in the BVI. A competitive salary will be offered as well as pension, training and career progression.
