Maths Teacher – Community Provision (London)
Specialist Education Service | Full-Time | Permanent (Term-Time Only)
£42,000 – £46,000 per annum | September or ASAP Start

Are you a qualified Maths Teacher looking for a more meaningful, relationship-focused role outside of a traditional classroom?

Do you have experience supporting pupils with autism, SEMH or those disengaged from mainstream education?

Ready to work in a unique community-based setting where your impact goes far beyond academics?

A specialist education provider is seeking a dedicated Maths Teacher to join their innovative community provision across London. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity working with pupils who have experienced barriers to mainstream education, including exclusions and non-attendance.

In this role, you will deliver engaging, personalised Maths lessons in community settings, both face-to-face and online. You will work closely with a team of Therapeutic Education Practitioners (Learning Mentors), supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including autism, attachment difficulties and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

This provision takes a therapeutic approach to education, placing strong emphasis on relationships, emotional wellbeing and consistent support. You will play a key role in helping pupils re-engage with learning, build confidence and develop essential life skills alongside academic progress.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality Maths teaching across KS2 – KS4 (and potentially KS5) in community and virtual settings
  • Planning and differentiating lessons to meet a wide range of needs, particularly for neurodiverse pupils
  • Working closely with Learning Mentors to support pupil engagement and progress
  • Supporting and implementing EHCPs and Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Promoting positive behaviour through consistent, relationship-led approaches
  • Tracking, assessing and reporting on pupil progress
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and recognising behaviour as communication
  • Contributing to a flexible, blended learning approach using online platforms such as Microsoft Teams

You will also take on a small leadership responsibility, line managing a team of Learning Mentors, supporting their development and ensuring high standards of support for pupils across your cluster.

This is a highly rewarding role for a teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and wants to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable young people. The setting offers a supportive, values-driven environment with a strong focus on staff development, collaboration and wellbeing.

We are looking for teachers who:

  • Hold QTS or QTLS with a specialism in Maths
  • Have experience working with pupils with SEN, particularly autism and/or SEMH
  • Understand the needs of pupils who have experienced exclusion or disrupted education
  • Are calm, resilient and able to build strong, trusting relationships
  • Have high expectations and a commitment to inclusive, pupil-centred practice
  • Are confident differentiating the curriculum and adapting teaching approaches
  • Are organised, proactive and able to work flexibly across different settings

Experience within a specialist or alternative provision setting would be highly beneficial, though strong mainstream teachers with relevant SEN experience are also encouraged to apply.

This is an excellent opportunity to step into a progressive and impactful role, ideal for teachers looking to move into therapeutic or alternative education settings while developing leadership experience.

If you're looking for a role where you can genuinely change outcomes for young people, apply now or send your CV to Stephen at KPI Education.
