Graduate Learning Support Assistant – Psychology Graduate – Barnet

September 2026 Start | Full-Time | Term-Time Only | £500–£600 per week

KPI Education is working with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Barnet seeking an enthusiastic Graduate Learning Support Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Psychology graduate to apply their understanding of child development, behaviour, learning and individual needs within a real school environment.

The Role

As a Graduate Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, the SENCO and wider inclusion team to support students with a range of learning and additional needs.

You will provide individual and small-group support, helping students overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and engage positively with their education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group learning support.
  • Support students with additional learning needs and barriers to education.
  • Use an understanding of psychology and learning to adapt your approach to individual students.
  • Help students develop confidence, resilience and positive learning habits.
  • Support pupils with organisation, revision and independent learning.
  • Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning resources.
  • Support literacy, numeracy and subject-specific interventions.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in lessons.
  • Build trusting and professional relationships with students.
  • Monitor student engagement and progress and provide feedback to teachers.
  • Work closely with the SENCO, pastoral staff and teaching team.
  • Support the school's wider inclusion and pastoral initiatives.

Candidate Profile

The school is particularly interested in graduates who have:

  • A Psychology degree, with a 2:1 or above preferred.
  • A genuine interest in child development, education, SEN or educational psychology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic and supportive approach.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with young people.
  • Confidence working with students with different abilities and needs.
  • A proactive, resilient and professional attitude.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience in tutoring, mentoring, youth work, schools, coaching or volunteering is desirable but not essential.
