KPI Recruiting are on the look out for a Yard Operative for our client based in Cheshire.

As a Yard Operative, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the recycling facility. Your responsibilities will include sorting recyclable materials, maintaining a clean and safe working environment, carrying out routine machinery inspections, and supporting the efficient running of the site.

Operatives who are qualified to operate plant machinery will also be responsible for loading and unloading containers and curtain-sided vehicles using a Forklift Truck (FLT) and, where authorised, other plant equipment such as a Loading Shovel, 360 Excavator, or Bobcat. These duties are essential for effective stock management, material handling, and site operations. You will also work closely with the Weighbridge Operator to ensure the smooth movement of materials on and off site.

As a Yard Operative your working hours and days are:

• Monday- Friday
• Week 1 06:00- 14:00
• Week 2 14:00- 22:00

The rate of pay as a Yard Operative is:

• £13.39 p/h

The duties and responsibilities as a Yard Operative are:

• Load and unload containers and curtain-sided vehicles safely and efficiently using a Forklift Truck
• Inspect incoming materials and remove any non-conforming or unsuitable items in accordance with company procedures
• Carry out daily pre-use inspections of plant, machinery, and equipment, ensuring they are safe to operate and accurately completing daily plant inspection records
• Perform regular inspections of the yard and work areas, reporting any defects, hazards, or operational issues to management
• Rotate stock and materials around the site to maximise efficiency while maintaining high standards of housekeeping and cleanliness
• Adhere to all company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, procedures, and legal requirements at all times
• Liaise closely with the Weighbridge Operator to monitor daily inbound and outbound materials, stock levels, and operational priorities
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the Site Manager to support the efficient operation of the business

The ideal candidate for a Yard Operative would require:

• Previous experience as a Yard Operative
• Ability to work well individually or in a team environment
• Good time keeping skills
