Recycling Operative

People Solutions are currently recruiting for an Recycling Operative to join our well-established client based in Middleton /M24. This is a fantastic opportunity offering excellent rates of pay, stable weekday hours, and genuine opportunities for growth and progression.

This position is ideal for applicants looking for a role as a Waste Recycling Operative, Sorting Operative (Recycling) or Recycling Facility Operative.

Shifts

• Working 5 days out of 7 (weekend work is a must.
• 2 different shifts available:
  • Shift 1: 6.00am - 2.00pm
  • Shift 2: 2.00pm - 10.00pm

Rates of Pay

• £13.23 per hour
• £19.84 OT after 37.5 hours

Day-to-Day Duties

As an Recycling Operative , your duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Assist with general recycling and waste-processing duties as required.
• Manually sort plastic, cardboard, paper, glass and other recyclable materials.
• Process and sort caged and food waste in an outdoor environment.
• Load and unload waste materials safely and efficiently.
• Operate basic recycling and waste-processing equipment following training.
• Load and move waste, bins, cages and recycling materials.
• Keep the recycling area clean, tidy and free from hazards.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions while wearing the required PPE.
• Follow all site health and safety procedures at all times.
• Identify and report damaged equipment, hazards or unsafe working conditions.
• Move bins, cages, bags and containers around the recycling facility.
• Assist with loading waste into machinery, skips or designated containers.
• Maintain a steady pace while working as part of a recycling team.
• Carry out repetitive manual handling tasks safely.
• Separate materials accurately to maintain recycling quality standards.
• Assist colleagues with other general waste and recycling duties as required.

Essential Skills

• As an Recycling Operative, you will need:
• Good physical fitness and ability to carry out manual handling.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Good attention to detail when sorting recyclable materials.
• Willingness to carry out repetitive tasks and general cleaning duties.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team.
• Ability to follow health and safety procedures.

Desirable Experience

  • Recycling Operative experience.
