TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist setting in Weston-super-Mare that supports children and young people aged 4 to 18 with complex barriers to learning. The setting provides a personalised, creative and child-centred education, with a strong focus on building self-esteem, encouraging personal development and helping pupils become confident and valued members of their community.

The setting is looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant from September on a full-time, temporary basis. The successful Learning Support Assistant will work closely with pupils with moderate learning difficulties / MLD and associated needs, including mild-to-moderate Autism / ASD, ADHD and Speech, Language and Communication Needs / SLCN.

You will provide tailored classroom and individual support, helping pupils engage with their learning, regulate their emotions and develop important social and independence skills. You will also work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure each pupil receives consistent support based on their individual needs.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will have:

• Experience supporting children or young people with additional learning needs
• Experience supporting pupils with MLD, Autism / ASD, ADHD and/or SLCN
• The ability to support pupils with emotional regulation and personal development
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A patient, caring and child-centred approach
• The ability to adapt support to meet individual learning needs
• A positive and flexible attitude towards supporting children and young people
