TeacherActive is working with a specialist school in Darlington to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated SEND Teacher with a Computing specialism.

The successful teacher will deliver engaging Computing and ICT lessons to pupils with special educational needs, teaching across the curriculum up to Key Stage 5. This is an excellent opportunity for a patient, adaptable and creative teacher who is passionate about helping young people achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a SEND Teacher with a Computing specialism, you will:

• Plan and deliver high-quality Computing and ICT lessons up to Key Stage 5.
• Adapt lessons and resources to meet a range of individual learning needs.
• Support pupils with SEND, including autism, ADHD, SEMH needs and communication difficulties.
• Create a positive, structured and inclusive classroom environment.
• Assess pupil progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral staff and other professionals.
• Follow individual education, support and behaviour plans.
• Promote pupils’ confidence, independence and digital skills.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

• Qualified Teacher Status, QTLS or a relevant recognised teaching qualification.
• A strong Computing, ICT or Computer Science specialism.
• Experience teaching pupils with SEND.
• Experience teaching Computing or ICT up to Key Stage 5.
• Strong behaviour and classroom management skills.
• The ability to differentiate lessons effectively.
• A patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
