A supportive and inclusive primary school in East Leeds are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Support Assistant to join their team, to work within their resource provision, on a full-time long-term basis, starting September 2026.

Are you a Psychology graduate or an experienced SEMH Support Assistant looking to build a career in mental health, education or clinical psychology?

The ideal SEMH Support Assistant will:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or additional needs
  • Possess strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
  • Be compassionate, patient and flexible when responding to individual needs and behaviours
  • Provide effective 1:1 and small group support to help pupils engage and progress
  • Have a genuine passion for inclusion, emotional wellbeing, and supporting pupils to reach their potential
  • Be confident adapting activities and approaches to meet the needs of pupils within the provision
  • Any additional training or qualifications such as Team Teach, Trauma-Informed Practice, or Makaton would be desirable
