Project Engineer – Advanced Manufacturing & Automation

Deeside

CONTRACT 

Our client, a global manufacturer operating within a highly regulated production environment, is looking to recruit an experienced Project Engineer to support major automation and capital equipment projects at their Deeside facility.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineering professional with strong manufacturing experience to play a key role in delivering new automated production equipment, process improvements, and validation activities within a fast-paced engineering environment.

The Role

Working closely with Project Management, Validation, Manufacturing, and Quality teams, you will take ownership of engineering activities across equipment installation and integration projects from concept through to full production handover.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading engineering activities for new manufacturing equipment and process modifications
  • Managing equipment delivery from specification through FAT/SAT and validation stages (IQ/OQ/PQ)
  • Supporting automation integration and production line improvements
  • Coordinating with external vendors and suppliers to ensure compliance with technical and regulatory requirements
  • Driving continuous improvement, uptime, efficiency, and cost reduction initiatives
  • Supporting change control, GMP documentation, and regulatory compliance activities
  • Assisting with production handovers and ongoing process optimisation
  • Ensuring all engineering work complies with EHS and site standards

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for candidates with a strong engineering and manufacturing background, ideally from regulated industries such as:

  • Medical Devices
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Food & Beverage Manufacturing
  • FMCG or other high-volume production environments

You will ideally have:

  • Time-served apprenticeship or strong practical engineering background
  • Experience delivering automation, process equipment, or production line integration projects
  • Knowledge of GMP, FDA, MHRA, or other regulated manufacturing standards
  • Experience completing validation activities including IQ/OQ/PQ
  • Understanding of GAMP5 and change control procedures
  • Continuous Improvement / Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Good IT skills including Excel, Word, SAP, and CAD systems

Desirable Experience

  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Medical device manufacturing experience
  • Process FMEA and capability studies
  • Capital equipment specification and vendor management
  • MS Project or TrackWise experience
