An ambitious and inclusive secondary school in Southwark is seeking to appoint a talented Teacher of Science from September 2026.

The school combines strong Progress 8 performance and positive GCSE outcomes with a genuine commitment to scholarship, equity and student character development. Academic achievement is built upon a calm, purposeful culture where expectations are high and relationships are strong.

The Role

  • Deliver engaging, challenging and well-sequenced lessons

  • Foster curiosity, analytical thinking and scientific literacy

  • Use assessment intelligently to drive strong student progress

  • Contribute positively to a collaborative and forward-thinking department

This role would suit both experienced practitioners and Early Career Teachers. Support is carefully structured, with a comprehensive induction and mentoring programme for ECTs and personalised development pathways for more experienced colleagues.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Demonstrate secure subject knowledge within their Science specialism

  • Have high expectations for achievement and behaviour

  • Build positive, consistent relationships with students

  • Be reflective and committed to ongoing professional growth

  • Have the right to work in the UK

The School Offers

  • Strong Progress 8 outcomes

  • Positive GCSE Science results

  • Successful and growing Sixth Form provision

  • Modern, well-equipped laboratories

  • A calm and consistent behaviour culture

  • High-quality CPD and clear career progression opportunities

  • Leadership that actively prioritises staff wellbeing

  • Inner London MPS/UPS salary

The school is committed to ensuring that every student, regardless of background, is supported and challenged to achieve their full potential.

Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. An enhanced DBS check and appropriate pre-employment checks will be required. Applications are welcomed from all suitably qualified candidates.

If you are ready to join a South London school where standards are high, staff are valued and students are encouraged to aim beyond what they thought possible, we would welcome your application.

Apply today to become part of an ambitious and supportive school community.
