Senior Applications Developer (Power Platform) Contract: onrolling Location: Remote (with equipment pickup + 1 day in-office per month) Working Hours: Full-Time Salary: £500 day rate As a Senior Applications Developer, you’ll play a key role in creating and optimising digital products that are simple, accessible, and designed around user needs. Working within our Product and Delivery team, you will contribute to the ongoing evolution of essex.gov.uk, support our AI and robotic process automation initiatives, and drive development standards that improve outcomes across Essex. What You’ll Do Lead the development of high-quality, reusable, and accessible software components. Oversee and mentor developers in writing clean, open-by-default code. Deliver software through all stages of the product lifecycle, ensuring alignment with user needs, budget, and delivery timelines. Continuously iterate and enhance digital services using user-centred design principles. Support innovation across AI, automation, and modern digital services. About You (Knowledge, Skills & Experience) Degree-level education or equivalent relevant experience. Microsoft certifications: PL-100, PL-200, PL-400, PL-600. Proven experience with Microsoft Power Automate Desktop and Azure DevOps. Strong understanding of Microsoft 365, Dataverse, and Azure Services. Knowledge of ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) for Power Platform. Technical skills in JSON, Power Fx, JavaScript, HTML, and SQL. Demonstrable expertise with relevant vendor business applications. Desirable Knowledge of ICT standards: HMG SPF, ITIL V3, ISO/IEC 38500, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 22301, ISO/IEC 20000, PRINCE2, MSP. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify technical concepts. Experience balancing user needs with organisational priorities.
