TeacherActive is proud to be working with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream Secondary School in Cardiff, who are looking for a dedicated ALN Learning Support Assistant / LSA to join their specialist ASD provision.

The successful candidate will support pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a range of additional learning needs, helping them access education in a structured, nurturing and supportive environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced LSA who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and making a positive difference to their educational experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with ASD

• Supporting pupils with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation

• Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs and abilities

• Promoting independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning

• Supporting pupils with sensory needs and individual learning strategies

• Implementing positive behaviour management techniques

• Working closely with teachers and ALN staff to support individual development plans

We are looking for an ALN LSA with the following:

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with ASD and additional learning needs

• A strong understanding of autism and the different ways it can affect learning and communication

• Confidence supporting pupils with sensory and emotional regulation needs

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

• A patient, resilient and nurturing approach

• The ability to use initiative and adapt to individual pupil needs

• A genuine passion for inclusive education and supporting young people to achieve their potential
