CMA Recruitment Group is working exclusively with a growing and profitable SME within the services sector, based in Petersfield, to recruit an Assistant Accountant. Working closely with the Finance Manager, this varied role will encompass credit control, transactional finance and month-end support. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain exposure across the wider business, build strong working relationships and play an active role in supporting its continued growth and success.

What will the Assistant Accountant role involve?

• Investigating systems and process issues, recommending practical improvements and supporting their implementation
• Managing credit control activities by understanding the reasons behind overdue invoices and helping improve collection processes
• Supporting the introduction of the new operating system, including changes to reporting, invoicing and expense processes
• Working with the Finance Manager and wider finance team to maintain accurate accounting information and effective controls
• Providing cover across the finance function during periods of annual leave, developing a broad understanding of the business and its processes

Suitable Candidate for the Assistant Accountant vacancy:

• Experience gained within an SME or similarly broad finance environment
• AAT qualification, qualified by experience will be considered
• Good working knowledge of Sage 50 and strong Excel skills
• Understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and credit control principles
• A questioning, solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to identify and implement practical improvements
