Job Location:
United Kingdom -England -South West England -Somerset -Bath
Salary:
£90 - £95/day + dependent upon experience

Do you have experience working with children or young people with SEND?

Do you have experience supporting children or young people on a 1:1 basis or in small groups?

Do you have experience supporting any of the following: Autism/ASC, ADHD, SEMH, challenging behaviour or pupils with EHCPs?

TeacherActive is working closely with an inclusive secondary school in Bath that is looking for enthusiastic and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to support students across its mainstream provision.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly with young people and wants to make a genuine difference to their experience in school.

You will primarily work with students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups within mainstream lessons, helping them access the curriculum, build confidence and become increasingly independent in their learning.

We are interested in hearing from experienced LSAs and Teaching Assistants, but we would also love to speak to graduates, university students and people with transferable experience who are looking to develop a career supporting young people.

The role will include:

  • Providing 1:1 support to individual students within mainstream classes
  • Supporting small groups with learning and classroom activities
  • Helping students remain engaged, organised and confident in lessons
  • Adapting your approach to meet individual needs and abilities
  • Working alongside teachers and the wider SEND/pastoral team
  • Encouraging independence rather than creating reliance on support
  • Supporting students' social, emotional and academic development
  • Helping create a calm, inclusive and positive learning environment

The ideal LSA will:

  • Be patient, approachable and able to build positive relationships with young people
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be adaptable and confident working across different subjects
  • Understand that behaviour can often be a form of communication
  • Be reliable, resilient and genuinely interested in supporting young people
  • Have previous school/SEND experience or strong transferable experience working with children or young people

Relevant experience with SEND, autism, ADHD, SEMH, EAL or students with EHCPs would be particularly welcome, although this is not essential for every position.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will receive:

  • A dedicated consultant who understands the local education market
  • Competitive rates of pay
  • Access to FREE CPD and training through TeacherActive
  • Support throughout the registration and clearance process
  • Opportunities for flexible, long-term and potentially permanent work
  • Referral bonuses through TeacherActive's referral scheme

TeacherActive is an equal opportunities employer and operates as an Employment Business in providing temporary or contract job-seeking services.
