Graduate Behavioural Mentor

KPI Education is working with a specialised independent education provider in Stoke-on-Trent, offering personalised alternative learning pathways, mentoring and school intervention programmes for young people aged 11–18.

We are looking for graduates seeking a rewarding challenge, supporting young people who have experienced difficulties engaging with or adjusting to mainstream education.

This role would suit a confident, ambitious individual looking to gain first-hand experience supporting learners to overcome barriers to education and achieve positive outcomes, regardless of their background.

The Role

As a Graduate Behavioural Mentor, you will work directly with young people, providing personalised 1:1 and small-group support.

You will build positive relationships with learners, support emotional regulation and social skills, encourage engagement with education and contribute to personalised intervention programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to young people with additional needs.

• Building positive, trusting and consistent relationships with learners.

• Supporting emotional regulation, resilience and self-confidence.

• Helping learners develop positive behaviours and strategies for managing challenges.

• Supporting social communication and interaction skills.

• Delivering targeted mentoring and behavioural interventions under appropriate guidance.

• Supporting organisation, focus, time management and executive functioning skills.

• Helping young people re-engage with education following difficulties in mainstream settings.

• Supporting functional skills, academic development and personal development.

• Working collaboratively with tutors, mentors, education professionals, schools, parents and other stakeholders.

• Contributing to a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

About You

We are looking for graduates with strong academic records who are compassionate, resilient and genuinely interested in understanding behaviour and supporting young people to overcome barriers to education.

The ideal candidate will:

• Hold a First Class or 2:1 degree, ideally from a Russell Group university.

• Ideally have studied Psychology, Behavioural Science, Education or another relevant subject.

• Have previous experience working with children or young people.

• Hold a driving licence with access to a vehicle.

• Demonstrate a genuine interest in psychology, behaviour, SEND or child development.

• Be confident working with young people with complex educational, social or emotional needs.

• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrate strong observational and analytical skills.

• Be organised, proactive and willing to learn.

• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting young people's welfare.
