Senior Site Manager

Location: Guildford / Nationwide 
Salary: Negotiable (Day Rate, Hourly)
Job Type: Freelance/Permanent, Full-Time

Travel: Must be happy to travel to various sites nationwide (Will be based primarily at the Head Office in Guildford)

We are currently working with an established construction contractor specialising in high-quality refurbishment, fit-out and construction projects. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager/Senior Site Manager to take responsibility for the successful delivery of projects from mobilisation through to completion.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Manager/Senior site manager to join a professional organisation delivering projects across sectors including commercial, hospitality, leisure, retail, healthcare and residential.

The Role

As Site Manager/Senior Site Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, to the required quality standards and within budget.

You will work closely with the Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor, design team, subcontractors, suppliers and client representatives to ensure the smooth delivery of each project.

Key Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of site operations.
• Lead and coordinate site teams, subcontractors and trades.
• Plan and manage programmes, sequencing and short-term works.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
• Monitor progress against programme and identify potential delays.
• Coordinate deliveries, site logistics and site access.
• Manage subcontractor performance and ensure works are completed to specification.
• Carry out regular site inspections and quality checks.
• Ensure all health and safety requirements are fully implemented and maintained.
• Chair and attend site meetings, providing regular progress updates.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, clients and design teams.
• Review drawings, specifications, RAMS and other project documentation.
• Resolve technical, logistical and programme issues as they arise.
• Maintain accurate site records, reports and documentation.
• Manage the successful completion, snagging and handover of projects.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Proven experience as a Site Manager or Senior Site Manager within the construction industry.
• Strong experience delivering refurbishment, fit-out or construction projects.
• A strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing and site management.
• Experience managing subcontractors, trades and site teams.
• Excellent knowledge of health and safety requirements.
• The ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• The ability to manage programmes and work effectively to deadlines.
• A proactive, hands-on approach to site management.
• The ability to build strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and project teams.
• CSCS, SMSTS and First Aid qualifications.
