Production Worker – Mechanical & Electrical Assembly | Blackburn, Lancashire | Full Time | £30,000 per annum

Our client is a leading manufacturer of fuel pumps and fuel management systems for commercial vehicle fleets. They are looking for a motivated and practical Production Worker to join their fast-paced manufacturing team.

This is a hands-on position that would suit someone with a strong mechanical background, practical electrical knowledge and a keen eye for detail. The successful candidate will be involved in the assembly, testing and fault-finding of mechanical pumps and fuel management systems.

The Role

As a Production Worker, you will work across mechanical and electrical assembly, ensuring products are built accurately, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

The role involves working with mechanical, electrical and electronic components, following technical information and using practical problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues during the build process.

Key Responsibilities

• Building and assembling mechanical fuel pumps and fuel management systems to specified standards
• Carrying out mechanical assembly and fitting of components, ensuring products are built accurately and efficiently
• Wiring and assembling electrical components within fuel management systems
• Working with and identifying components on PCBs (printed circuit boards)
• Testing completed assemblies and identifying mechanical or electrical faults
• Diagnosing and tracing faults within the electrical heads and control systems of the machines
• Identifying and resolving mechanical issues during the build process
• Using practical problem-solving skills to investigate and rectify production and assembly issues
• Following technical drawings, wiring diagrams, assembly instructions and manufacturing procedures
• Maintaining a high standard of workmanship, accuracy and attention to detail throughout the production process
• Working efficiently within a fast-paced production environment while maintaining quality and safety standards
• Safely handling, moving and positioning components and assemblies as part of the manufacturing process
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across the production and engineering teams to meet production targets and deadlines

Requirements

Essential

• Previous experience in a mechanical assembly, manufacturing, engineering or production environment
• Good knowledge and understanding of mechanical assembly and components
• Basic to good electrical knowledge, including wiring and electrical fault-finding
• An understanding of PCBs and electronic components
• Strong problem-solving and fault-finding abilities
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
• The ability to read and follow technical drawings, wiring diagrams and assembly instructions
• Good manual dexterity and practical skills
• The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team
• A willingness to learn new products, systems and manufacturing processes
• The physical ability to safely lift, carry and position components and assemblies weighing up to approximately 25kg

Desirable

• Experience in hydraulics / mechanical machines
• Knowledge of electrical components, wiring and PCBs (printed circuit boards)

The Working Environment

Our production department is a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment where accuracy, efficiency and attention to detail are essential.

The role involves working with a combination of mechanical, electrical and electronic components, with the successful candidate expected to take a methodical approach to fault-finding and problem-solving.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically demanding, hands-on production role. Manual handling and lifting are an integral part of the position, and the successful candidate must be comfortable safely lifting, carrying and positioning components and assemblies weighing up to approximately 25kg.

The role may involve:

• Regular lifting and movement of mechanical and electrical components
• Handling individual components weighing up to approximately 25kg
• Positioning and assembling heavy components as part of the machine build process
• Working safely in accordance with manual handling procedures and workplace health and safety requirements
• Maintaining safe lifting and handling practices throughout the production process

Candidates should be physically capable of carrying out these duties safely and consistently as part of their normal working day.
