Masstemps is currently recruiting for an experienced Capstan Setter/Operator to join a well-established and busy manufacturing company based near the Wolverhampton area.

THE ROLE

• Set and operate capstan/turret lathes to produce components to engineering drawings and job specifications.
• Select and fit the correct cutting tools, drills, reamers, taps, dies and form tools.
• Set tool positions, speeds, feeds and stops to achieve the required dimensions.
• Load and secure bar stock, blanks and components into the machine.
• Set up machines for different jobs and change tooling as required.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions and tolerances.
• Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain accuracy and quality.
• Carry out first-off and in-process inspections using verniers, micrometers and other measuring equipment.
• Identify tooling wear and replace or adjust tooling when required.
• Produce components to required quantities and production timescales.
• Maintain a clean and safe working area and follow company health and safety procedures.

ABOUT YOU

• Previous experience as a Capstan Setter/Operator within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Confident setting and operating capstan or turret lathes.
• Good understanding of tooling, speeds, feeds and machine settings.
• Able to read and work from engineering drawings.
• Experience working to tight dimensions and tolerances.
• Confident using measuring equipment including verniers and micrometers.
• Experience working with different materials and component sizes.
• Able to set machines independently and troubleshoot basic machining issues.
• Good attention to detail and quality-focused approach.
• Reliable and comfortable working in a busy production environment.

Monday to Thursday 08:00am – 16:30pm

Friday 08:00am – 15:30pm

£14.00ph
