Thorn Baker are currently recruiting for an experienced Glazer/Fitter to join an established optical manufacturing company in Birmingham on a night shift.

• Pay: £20 per hour

• Hours: 10:00pm–6:00am

• Days: Monday–Friday

• Contract: Minimum 2-month assignment

• Location: Birmingham

The Role

You will be responsible for glazing and fitting spectacles to a high standard, ensuring orders are completed accurately and within required timescales.

Key responsibilities include:

• Glazing, fitting, edging, blocking and mounting lenses.

• Reading and accurately interpreting lens and frame specifications.

• Edging and assembling frames using hand edge machines.

• Carrying out tracing, marking, blocking, edging and mounting.

• Rimless glazing where required.

• Completing repairs and adjustments.

• Carrying out final quality inspections.

• Prioritising urgent customer orders.

• Maintaining productivity and quality targets.

• Operating machinery safely and reporting any faults.

• Completing clear handovers to the day team.

About You

• Previous experience in glazing, optical manufacturing or a similar production environment.

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

• Able to work to quality and productivity targets.

• Comfortable working independently on a night shift.

• Good understanding of health and safety procedures.

• Reliable and organised with a strong eye for detail.

• Experience with rimless glazing would be advantageous.
