An Outstanding primary school in Croydon is seeking an ambitious and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join its supportive and inclusive team on a full-time, one-year fixed-term contract. This exciting opportunity is ideal for a graduate considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, child development, speech and language therapy, or SEND support.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play an integral role in supporting pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils.
  • Assisting class teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Supporting children who require additional learning or pastoral support.
  • Helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and resilience.
  • Supporting the delivery of interventions in literacy and numeracy.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teachers.
  • Working collaboratively with parents, teachers, and specialist professionals where appropriate.
  • Contributing to the school's warm, inclusive, and child-centred ethos.

Candidate Profile

The school is looking for an academically strong graduate who is passionate about working with children and supporting their development.

Essential Requirements

  • A degree from a Russell Group University.
  • A First-Class Honours Degree or strong 2:1.
  • A degree in Psychology, Education Studies, or a closely related subject.
  • Excellent GCSE results, including strong grades in Mathematics, English, and Science.
  • Strong A-Level results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for education and child development.
  • A positive, proactive, and professional approach.

Highly Desirable

  • Previous experience working with children through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work, or school placements.
  • An interest in Educational Psychology, Teaching, SEND, or Child Development.
  • Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs.
