Classroom Support Assistant

Milk Education is looking for a Classroom Support Assistant to join a welcoming Primary School based in Bowburn, Durham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience working with children who wants to gain valuable school-based experience and become a familiar face in a school that values consistency.

Whether you have experience as a Teaching Assistant, Childcare Practitioner, Youth Worker, Sports Coach or have transferable experience supporting children and young people, we’d love to hear from you.

Main Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils with their learning and development
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive communication
• Helping pupils engage positively and consistently in classroom activities
• Supporting positive behaviour and creating an inclusive learning environment
• Working alongside teachers and other school staff
• Maintaining safeguarding and confidentiality in line with school policies

Requirements & Skills

• Level 2 or 3 qualification in childcare, education or a similar subject, or equivalent hands-on experience (preferred)
• Previous experience working with children or young people
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A positive, patient and enthusiastic approach
• Genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
• Recent experience in a school or education setting (preferred)
