We're currently recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant in Salford to join a supportive secondary school on a long-term, short-term, or temp-to-perm basis. This SEN Teaching Assistant job in Salford is ideal for experienced SEN TAs, Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, psychology graduates, aspiring teachers, youth workers, and support workers looking to make a genuine difference to young people's education.

You'll be joining an inclusive and supportive secondary school in Salford, where student wellbeing, inclusion and positive relationships are central to the school community. This is a great opportunity to become a familiar face within the school and provide consistent support to students with additional needs.

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils one-to-one and in small groups, responding to their individual needs

  • Supporting students across KS3 and KS4 with a range of SEN and additional learning needs

  • Working with pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH and moderate learning difficulties

  • Helping deliver intervention and catch-up sessions to support progress

  • Working alongside teachers and the SEND team to adapt resources and support learning

  • Promoting positive behaviour, confidence, independence and engagement

  • Building strong relationships with students and helping create an inclusive classroom environment

Requirements or Skills

  • Recent experience working in a school or education setting is desirable

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH, Autism or additional learning needs is advantageous

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Education, Supporting Teaching & Learning or similar – or equivalent hands-on experience

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • A calm, patient and resilient approach

  • Good behaviour management skills and the confidence to support pupils who may present with challenging or dysregulated behaviour

  • Comfortable taking direction from the class teacher and working as part of a wider SEND team

  • Based in or able to commute to Salford
